This chapter on the enjoyment of horror ties in very closely with the concepts we discussed during the last chapter. They serve as kind of stepping stones to one another, since it seems that after the last chapter that discussion of whether or not one feels fear of the actual "slime" is settled, and the understanding that one is one playing a psychological game with oneself is put forth. So Carroll moves on and places most of the emphasizes on the enjoyment one feels in viewing a horror film, due to our curiosity of the unknown, its a kind of discover, another game. So is that all we are constantly doing is playing games? Considering most watch movies of the sort as adults, could is be that we are just maybe missing an element of physical play, which was found in childhood, during the time when one may not have enjoyed these sorts of movies as much?
